Rossana Fanucchi, Emerson Fittipaldi’s wife, is a Brazilian economist from So Paulo. Her parents are Cyomara Fanucchi and Gilberto Fanucchi.

Her interest in economics may have been passed down through her father, who studied economics at Mackenzie Presbyterian University and is currently employed at Sportello Participacoes.

Cyomara, her mother, also went to the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo. She also has a sister, Giovanna Fanucchi, who lives in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Rossana is active on social media sites such as Instagram and Facebook, despite the fact that nothing is known about her. Her Instagram account, on the other hand, was turned to private.

Fittipaldi, Emerson Rossana Fanucchi, the economist and former wife of Rossana Fanucchi, a Brazilian economist from So Paulo, is the spouse of F1 racer Emerson Fittipaldi. Her parents are Gilberto Fanucchi and Cyomara Fanucchi.

After 12 years of dating, Emerson and his wife exchanged vows.

After an 11-year romance, Fittipaldi wed economist Rossana Fanucchi in Sao Paulo at the beginning of December 2012.

The Brazilian racing driver and the economist, on the other hand, started dating in 2001. The couple will celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary in December.

Rossana’s parents took them to the hall after their ceremony, where her mother was with Emerson. Her father also clutched his lovely daughter’s hand.

Emerson Fittipaldi’s Early Years

Brazil’s So Paulo was the birthplace of Emerson Fittipaldi. He is the younger son of renowned Italian-Brazilian motorsports journalist Wilson Fittipaldi Sr and his wife Józefa “Juzy” Wojciechowska, a Polish and Russian immigrant to Saint Petersburg.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, an American author and philosopher, inspired the choice of his name. After the Second World War, both of his parents raced production cars, and Wilson Sr. was also in charge of organizing the first Mil Milhas event in So Paulo in 1956 after being inspired by the 1949 Italian Mille Miglia. Young Emerson and his brother Wilson developed a passion for motorsports.

Fittipaldi won his second Indy 500

There were five lead changes from laps 169 to 175, with Mansell taking over from Andretti on lap 175. Mansell maintained the lead until lap 184 before misjudging the restart after Lyn St. James stalled out two laps earlier. Fittipaldi swept past the leader when the green flag came out, and Luyendyk took over second place shortly afterward.

Fittipaldi held on the rest of the way, adding a second Indy 500 title to the one he had captured four years earlier by thoroughly dominating the day and then executing a late pass of Al Unser Jr.

After the ’93 race, however, Fittipaldi created an uproar at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where there’s a unique postrace tradition to be followed. Every year since 1956, the winner has been photographed on victory lane celebrating his victory by drinking milk from a clear glass bottle.

This time, though, Fittipaldi broke tradition by drinking orange juice. That didn’t sit well with some of the fans in a position to see, and they started jeering him. Fittipaldi chased it with milk the usual bottle of milk and subsequently apologized for the break with protocol.

For what it’s worth, going with OJ instead of milk was no accident. According to The Sporting News, Fittipaldi owned a half-million-acre Brazilian orange grove at the time.

Former F1 Racer Emerson Fittipaldi Have Seven Children

Fittipaldi has seven children from three marriages, two of whom he shares with his current wife, Rossana Fittipaldi. Emerson Jr., born in 2007, and Vittoria, born in early 2012, are the couple’s two children.

Their son, like his father, is pursuing a racing career and has participated in the 2021 F4 Danish Championship, finishing third overall.

He also has five children from a previous relationship. He was married to Maria Helena from 1970 to 1982, and they had three children. His second marriage to Teresa produced two children between the mid-1980s and 2002.

Tatiana, his daughter, married racer Max Papi, and the couple has two sons, Marco and Matteo Papis, who are Emerson’s grandchildren. Juliana Fittipaldi and Carlos da Cruz have two sons and a daughter, Pietro and Enzo Fittipaldi, and Valentina Fittipaldi.

Emerson Fittipaldi’s Bio

Emerson Fittipaldi, a former Brazilian racing driver who won the Formula One World Championship, the Indianapolis 500 twice, and the CART championship once, was born on December 12, 1946. His Portuguese name is.

Fittipaldi, a Formula Two driver who moved up to Formula One, made his racing debut for Team Lotus at the 1970 British Grand Prix as the third driver. The Brazilian became Lotus’ primary driver in just his sixth Grand Prix after Jochen Rindt was killed in the 1970 Italian Grand Prix. With Lotus, he had great success, taking home the World Drivers’ Championship at age 25 in 1972. He held the record for 33 years as the F1 world champion who was the youngest ever. Later, he changed teams and won the championship with McLaren in 1974. Prior to the 1976 season, he shocked the field by switching to his brother’s Fittipaldi Automotive team, where James Hunt took his position. His final years in Formula One were unsuccessful because the Fittipaldi vehicles were not competitive enough to contend for victories. Fittipaldi won two more championships before calling it quits in 1980.

Fittipaldi moved to the American CART series after his Formula One career and enjoyed success there, winning the 1989 CART championship and the 1989 and 1993 Indianapolis 500.

Fittipaldi has competed in only sporadic races since his 1996 retirement from Indy Car racing. He was one of just three individuals in history to have a Corvette production car named in their honor when it happened in 2008. He competed in the 2014 6 Hours of So Paulo at the age of 67.

Emerson Fittipaldi F1 Career Overview

Emerson Fittipaldi began the rich tradition of Brazilian drivers succeeding in F1 and was the figure to forge the path for the likes of Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna to also become legends of their discipline.

A double World Champion, Fittipaldi’s time at the top was fairly brief; he won the 1972 F1 World Championship in only his second season of full-time F1 racing and then again two years later in 1974.

He was also twice runner-up around those campaigns before Fittipaldi’s F1 career took a downturn on the honourable but unsuccessful decision to join his brother’s eponymous Brazilian-flagged team before exiting at the end of the 1980 season.

Nonetheless, Fittipaldi went on to notch up success in the United States competing in CART and winning the Indianapolis 500 twice.

In 144 F1 starts Fittipaldi was a 14-time race winner, with 35 podiums and six pole positions.

His nephew Christian Fittipaldi raced in F1 with modest success between 1992-1994, while his grandson Pietro Fittipaldi made his F1 debut as a deputy for the injured Romain Grosjean at Haas in 2020.

Emerson Fittipaldi — Beyond F1:

Fittipaldi stepped back from motorsport in the years directly after his F1 exit before making his comeback competing in the US-based CART series from 1984, where he remained until 1996.

He was competitive from the off, Fittipaldi landing his maiden win in 1985, eventually leading to a title victory in 1989 with Patrick Racing. It was in this year that Fittipaldi became one of the few drivers to win both the F1 World Championship and the Indy 500, the Brazilian achieving the latter for a second time in 1993.

His grandson Pietro Fittipaldi competed in the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix with Haas F1, the team with which he is a reserve driver. 

Emerson Fittipaldi F1 Career — Team-by-Team

Lotus: 1970-1973

Beating a path to Europe from his native Sao Paulo, Fittipaldi — having originally set his sights on motorcycle racing — set himself three months to dazzle prospective scouts and land a motorsport career on four wheels, which he duly achieved with stints in Formula 3 and Formula 2 before getting his F1 shot.

With the iconic Gold Leaf-backed Lotus successfully benefiting from its performances with incoming sponsorship money, team manager Colin Chapman used a third entry to bring on potential new talent, of which Fittipaldi was included. 

Sharing the seat over the year with Alex Soler-Ring, in the year that saw Jochen Rindt clinch the world title posthumously, Fittipaldi went on to pitch as his full-time replacement by notching up his first victory in only his fourth start two races later at Watkins Glen.

That earned him his first full season in 1971 with Lotus and Fittipaldi repaid this faith with an impressive maiden campaign that yielded three podium finishes — with a best of second in Austria — en route to sixth in the overall standings.

With Lotus bringing significant updates to the 72D for the 1972 F1 season, Fittipaldi made excellent use of his car’s superior downforce and he was consistently the fastest driver on circuit. Recovering from a DNF in the opening round, a win in Round 3 at Jarama set the Brazilian on course for another four wins from the 12 round season. At the age of 25, Fittipaldi became the youngest F1 World Champion, a status he held until Fernando Alonso in 2005.

Fittipaldi’s defence year wasn’t so prolific and he came up against a formidable foe in double World Champion Jackie Stewart. While the 72D was quick enough for two wins from the opening three races and the updated 72E won on its debut in Fittipaldi’s hands, a dry run midway through the year would see him fall short to the Scotsman by 16 points.

McLaren: 1974-1975

Sensing Lotus’ erstwhile advantage was being whittled down, Fittipaldi embarked on a switch to McLaren for 1974 and instantly rediscovered his best form, winning on his second time out — emotionally — on home soil at Interlagos.

In a closely fought battle with Ferrari’s Clay Regazzoni, though Fittipaldi won three races to his rival’s one, a dip in form during the closing stages tightened things up in the Swiss driver’s favour. However, with the third of those wins coming in the penultimate Canadian Grand Prix, it brought the pair level of points heading to the Watkins Glen finale.

In the race Fittipaldi and Regazzoni circulated in sixth and seventh respectively, but the Ferrari was struggling with its handling and it was forced to pit and drop down the order. Knowing Regazzoni had to always score at least one more point to win the title, the pressure was off Fittipaldi as a fourth place finish assured him of his second title in three years.

Facing up to the highly-rated Niki Lauda for 1975 in the Ferrari, Fittipaldi couldn’t live with the Austrian despite decent early season form, though two wins and four podiums assured him of the runners-up spot in the standings once again. 

Fittipaldi Automotive: 1976-1980

Over the winter Fittipaldi announced a shock switch to the relatively new Fittipaldi Automotive team founded by his brother, Wilson.

Though it wasn’t hard to understand the reasons for the move — not least the patriotism of it being a Brazilian set-up and coming with a sizeable amount of budget domestically — given Fittipaldi’s enduring status as one of F1’s top drivers of the time and the team’s inauspicious non-scoring debut in 1975 with Wilson at the wheel, it was greeted with a fair degree of scepticism.

With Emerson at the wheel — replacing Wilson who stepped back to focus on team management duties — the did subsequently enjoy a step forward, scoring its first point in Long Beach and another at Monaco and Brands Hatch.

However, the sporadic points were negated by other races where Emerson failed to qualify and generally the car didn’t make significant improvements during his prolonged five-year tenure in the eponymous outfit arguably befitting of its star pilot.

That’s not to say there weren’t highlights, including a brilliant second place finish in Rio in 1978 in a year that saw Fittipaldi crack the top six on six occasions. He — and another title-winning team-mate Keke Rosberg — added a podium each in 1980 but they were the scant notable results from an otherwise tough campaign. Seventh overall was the best Fittipaldi managed under his own name, in 1978.

Emerson’s exit at the end of the 1980 season saw the team struggle on for little more than a year after losing backing in the wake of its talisman’s exit and the team folded in 1982.

A farewell to racing legends at the Indianapolis 500

One of the major stories leading up to the 1993 Indianapolis 500 was the arrival of Nigel Mansell. A consistent Formula 1 contender with 30 victories over the previous eight years, the reigning series champion made a dramatic switch to the PPG Indy Car World Series, bringing with him a vast foreign media contingent.  

Mansell acquitted himself well with a third place-finish. The British driver, Fittipaldi (Brazil), and Arie Luyendyk (The Netherlands) gave foreigners an Indy 500 sweep of the first three spots for the first time since 1915.

However, the race was also a farewell to major names in the sport. Four-time champion A.J. Foyt participated in the first week of practice but subsequently retired, ending a 35-year career. Al Unser Sr., another four-time champ, did not qualify in his final Indy appearance.

Mario Andretti would return the following year, but the 1993 race was his last in which he led. In fact, Andretti led a field-best 72 laps and finished fifth.

Fittipaldi left Formula One to compete in the American CART series, where he won the 1989 CART championship as well as the 1989 and 1993 Indianapolis 500.

Fittipaldi has only raced in a few events since retiring from Indy Car racing in 1996. In 2008, he was one of just three people in history to have a Corvette production car named after them. At the age of 67, he competed in the 2014 So Paulo 6 Hours.

The second Formula 1 title was won with McLaren

In 1974, he left Lotus for the more-promising McLaren team. With three victories and four podium finishes, he easily outraced Clay Regazzoni in a close battle for his second championship title. He was in good form the next year too, clinching two wins and four podiums, but finishing as a runner-up behind the indomitable Niki Lauda.

Unexpectedly, Fittipaldi moved from McLaren to his brother’s newly formed Fittipaldi Automotive team which was a total newbie team in the series. But, Emerson spent five years there and failed to make any notable success. Finally, he moved in the management of the team alongside his brother. The team struggled on for another two years with minimal sponsorship, ultimately going into receivership at the end of 1982.

Racing in the CART Series and win at Indy 500

Two years later, Fittipaldi returned to the track, this time in the CART series. He stayed five years with the Patrick Racing team, recording six victories and solid finishes in the overall standings. In 1989, he had five wins and finished in the top five in every race he completed, giving him a CART championship. It was that year that his never-to-be forgotten epic win at the Indianapolis 500 race took place, when he led 158 of 200 laps and had a great battle with Al Unser Jr. in the final laps of the race.

The next step in Fittipaldi’s journey was the move to the Penske Racing team in 1990. He stayed among the leading drivers of the competition, winning at least one race per season for six years. In 1993, he added a second Indianapolis 500 victory by taking the lead from the defending Formula One World Champion Nigel Mansell on lap 185 and holding it for the remainder of the race.

Retirement after injury and proud father of seven

Though he was approaching 50 years of age, he was still with Champ Car in 1996 when an injury at the Michigan International Speedway ended his career. Fittipaldi did not return to the series as a driver after the injury. Fittipaldi finished his Champ Car career with 22 wins.

In the recent years, Fittipaldi sporadically appeared as a driver, mostly in charity races, but also tried himself as a journalist, writing blogs and columns and being active on social medias and websites.

In 2001, he was inducted in the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. Emerson Fittipaldi married three times and has seven kids – four daughters and three sons.

How did the Indy winners’ milk tradition begin?

Winners celebrating with chilled milk goes back to 1933, when Louis Meyer drank a glass of buttermilk after his second Indy 500 triumph. Meyer said he did so because his mother used to tell him that buttermilk was the optimal drink for a hot day.

When Meyer became the first three-time champion in 1936, he drank his milk from a large glass bottle. An executive from the forerunner of the American Dairy Association of Indiana saw a photo of the celebration and put wheels in motion to set up a promotional opportunity.

According to The Sporting News, milk became an annual tradition in 1956 with race winner Pat Flaherty.

Organizers now check with all 33 drivers ahead of the race to see if they prefer whole, 2%, or fat-free milk.

Formula One

With the flood of sponsorship money and the triumph of the Cosworth DFV engine in 1968, Team Lotus established themselves as one of the leading F1 teams. Colin Chapman utilised the team’s third seat for championship races as a testing ground for younger drivers. This broke the team’s tradition of using non-championship F1 races for this reason.

With regular seat holders Jochen Rindt and John Miles, the third seat was first awarded to Alex Soler-Roig in early 1970, and then to Fittipaldi beginning with the British GP in July. Fittipaldi finished fourth as the No. 3 driver in the next German Grand Prix, when No. 1 Jochen Rindt won and No. 2 John Miles retired.

When Jochen Rindt was assassinated at Monza in September and went on to become the only driver to win the championship posthumously, Team Lotus’ season plans were drastically disrupted. Fittipaldi was promoted to Lotus’ No. 1 driver for his sixth F1 event, the United States Grand Prix, alongside teammates Reine Wisell and Pete Lovely. John Miles left the team as well. Fittipaldi shown his ability to fill the position by winning the first race for Lotus after Rindt.

In his first full season as Lotus’s lead driver, Fittipaldi placed sixth in the Drivers’ Championship in 1971, as the team improved the Lotus 72 from the previous year. Fittipaldi established his domination in 1972 by winning five of eleven races and won the F1 Drivers’ Championship while driving the Lotus 72D, which is widely regarded as the best Formula One design of all time.

Fittipaldi drove a Jim Russell Racing Drivers School F3 Lotus 59 in the 1969 F3 Guards Trophy at Brands Hatch.

Fittipaldi began racing motorcycles when he was 14 and hydroplanes when he was 16. During a race, his brother Wilson lost control and overturned at 70 mph (110 km/h). Wilson was not injured in the crash, but it caused the Fittipaldi brothers to forgo boat racing and focus only on land vehicle racing.

Fittipaldi won the 6 Hours of Interlagos in a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia at the age of 20 and the 12 Hours of Porto Alegre the following year.

They shifted to Formula Vee racing and started a company with their parents. Fittipaldi won the Brazilian Formula Vee title in his second season of single-seat racing at the age of 21. In 1969, he travelled to Europe with the intention of convincing team owners of his ability within three months. Fittipaldi was initially trained by the Jim Russell Driving School Formula Three team before being hired following a couple podium places and his first Formula Ford victories. He was the 1969 MCD Lombard Championship champion after winning nine F3 races in a Jim Russell Lotus 59.
